One of the reasons I started this blog was to capture my search to find some of the best local products. Big companies have their perks, they are easy to find and make a consistent product. Meaning, you know where to get it and what to expect. For me, the what to expect became annoying. Yeah, their products work, but at what cost? And who and what am I really supporting? Take a look under the hood and you may well realize they test their products on animals, use questionable chemicals/ingredients, or maybe they're just a part of a large international conglomerate you choose not to support. When buying mass produced products, this is far too often the norm, not the exception. While I'm not really one for vocal social media boycotts, I do believe we should all make our voices heard with our wallets. I'm not here to preach to anybody, but if these are things that are also important to you or have weighed on your conscience the way they've weighed on mine, you should find this helpful.
The Yellow Bird products are made by hand in North Carolina. They have no synthetic fragrances (so any smell is from essential oils -- this is especially good for people with sensitive skin and/or chemical allergies) . My favorite part... there is no animal testing!
Now, for the many skin loving benefits this soap bar offers. The Yellow Bird loads it with organic ingredients that have natural antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal, and antiseptic properties. A popular choice for those with acne, eczema, and other irritated skin conditions.
From the moment I opened the soap, the smell was incredible! I love tea tree products and this was no different. Using the soap is so refreshing, especially in the shower. It tingles a little bit and has a cool feeling, I felt clean all over with no dry, tight skin afterwards. My skin actually felt healthier after just a few days using this. A side benefit of using the tea tree/peppermint bar was that the house smelled like it when I came home for lunch hours later.
Kim used the Activated Charcoal soap and LOVED IT. The smell is amazing and let's face it, black soap is just inherently cool looking. Overall, she feels like her skin is softer, more hydrated, and (weirdly enough) cleaner than when she used Dove bodywash. The bar does create black suds but does not stain anything. Her favorite part of both soaps? You guessed it, the house smells like them hours after showers have been taken! She was very impressed with the Activated Charcoal bar and will definitely be purchasing more soap from The Yellow Bird.
I would highly recommend this soap for anybody that likes to smell nice, get clean, and support a wonderful local company. If you'd like to try it for yourself, our followers can receive 25% from The Yellow Bird by using promo code ROOTEDGENTS on their website theyellowbird.co and be sure to follow them on Facebook: @TheYellowBirdCompany and Instagram: @theyellowbird.company. The coolest part, you will love their products and you can order them instantly on Amazon Prime! So there you have it, supporting local doesn't mean sacrificing your ethics, quality, or convenience! I sincerely hope you will give this soap a shot to be your number one, giving up Dove wasn't easy until I tried The Yellow Bird and now I'm hooked.
