This is our first #OakCityHustle blog and we are featuring Marigold Parlour in Seaboard Station! Kim and I are huge fans of this salon and our number one there, Kari Barry. This woman is an amazing talent. If you don't know Kim and I personally, we both have hair on the opposite sides of the spectrum, I hate straight hair that is fairly thick for a man in his 30s and Kim has long thick, naturally curly hair that can also be straightened and she tackles both of our hair textures with grace.
I hadn't gotten my hair cut since September of last year, in an attempt to grow out the popular Hipster Nazi cut I wore for the better part of 2016. It was time to get a style fix and there is no one I trust more...
The overall style and esthetic of Marigold Parlour is art deco meets home. This salon definitely lends itself to a younger and hipper generation, while still being inviting and warm. The first thing that happens when you walk in is they ask you if you want a beer, wine, coffee, or water and that in and of itself makes this place a 10 out of 10. After a long day, I will always take a beer with my hair cut, always.
I sat down with Kari, we discussed what I wanted to do, and she whispered, "Say no more, I got you fam." Just kidding, or am I?
The After is exactly what I was going for, a fresh take on a longer style. Kari did an awesome job explaining which product I should try with this look but did not try and push anything on me, which I appreciate.
After I happily paid this amazing stylist, We headed over to Raleigh Times to have some drinks with my lady for my birthday. I had a delicious Coffee Porter and Kim had the Pear Sangria.
Cheers to a great hair cut and delicious beer. I must say, Year 32 was epic and I can tell that 33 will be even better! If you have gone to Marigold Parlour, tell us who your favorite stylist is in the comment section below and what you had done!
